Do not squeeze the infected pimple.
Squeezing causes the infection to burst out
and spread. It can also lead to scarring.

Some factors that contribute to acne cannot be avoided or prevented. The foremost among these is genetics. Acne tends to run in families, so heredity will play a part that cannot be avoided. As a result, makeup for acne scars may be an inevitable item sought by people with this problem.

Another factor, which cannot easily be handled or avoided, is hormones. As a person reaches puberty, the body begins producing hormones called androgens. These hormones contribute to the production of oils, which clog the pores, leading to acne. Additionally, a woman's menstrual cycle produces hormones, which can aggravate acne, as can birth control pills. These are additional factors that may cause a person to seek out an effective acne treatment coverup.

Among the factors leading to acne that can be controlled, one of the simplest to monitor or change is cleansers. Using harsh or drying facial cleansers or washing too often can overly dry and irritate the skin. This can lead to acne breakouts, leading a person to then feel the need to find makeup for acne or an acne treatment coverup.

Cosmetics are also a factor that can contribute to or aggravate acne breakouts. Oily and greasy skin care products can leave residue, which clogs the pores or otherwise irritates the skin. This irritation can then lead to acne. Unfortunately, when some people are looking for an acne treatment coverup, they purchase makeup for acne or makeup for acne scars, which ultimately ends up making the condition worse.

For some people, physical or emotional stress can cause or contribute to acne. Sources of stress should be identified and, if possible, minimized or eliminated. Eliminating this factor can reduce the need to find an acne treatment coverup.

Various types of medication, both prescription and over-the-counter varieties, can lead to acne as a side effect. If medication you are taking lists acne as a possible side effect, speak to your doctor about an alternate medication to treat your condition.

While diet has not been found to be a direct contributing factor to acne breakouts, some people have found that certain foods can trigger acne.

One factor, which can be nearly impossible to resist for some people, is squeezing pimples. However, this can cause bacteria to enter the skin more readily, thus aggravating acne or even causing permanent scars, definitely increasing the need to find makeup for acne scars.

Treatment for acne will differ, depending on the type of acne a person has. For simple acne occurring during puberty (acne vulgaris), a mild benzoyl peroxide cream along with gentle cleansing may be all that is necessary to reduce or eliminate acne.

Other forms of acne are more difficult to control. Some may not respond to topical treatments and may require ongoing antibiotics to control. Severe acne can result in scarring which may require a different acne treatment coverup than mild or moderate acne would require.
